A lot of people have asked us about whether they can learn or use Office on their mobile devices and finally the answer is yes. Microsoft recently announced Office for iPad® with support for Word, PowerPoint and Excel. These new apps have the robust capabilities and familiar look and feel that is unmistakably Office, while offering a fantastic touch experience built from the ground up for iPad.
When working on Office documents on your iPad, you’ll find that they look just as they do on your PC or Mac with the familiar Ribbon layout and experience. What’s unique though, is the large touch areas on the Ribbon and in the overlay menus that make it simple to create, edit and format documents using only touch. No keyboard and mouse is required.
In Word, you can still work with images, tables, SmartArt, footnotes and equations. In Excel, you can create formulas, charts, sparklines, conditional formatting, and filters just as you do when using Excel on your PC or Mac. PowerPoint presentations still retain their feature rich capabilities with transitions, animations, speaker notes and much more. When presenting, you can even use a built-in laser pointer, pens and highlighters to get your point across.
The apps are also seamlessly integrated with Microsoft’s cloud services. They let you access up-to-date documents in OneDrive, OneDrive for Business and SharePoint. It’s easy to pick up from where you left off, because the apps know what documents you were working on last, no matter what device you were using. Even if you don’t have an Internet connection for a while, you’ll still be able to work on the documents you’ve recently used on the iPad.
