A receptionist is a person who supports management at all levels of the organization and generally greets the public and answers the company telephone. Their interpersonal skills, telephone etiquette and communication skills are extremely important in greeting clients, responding to inquiries and representing the company. A High school diploma or equivalent is usually required. Basic computer skills including keyboarding, microsoft word and good telephone etiquette skills are desirable. Other skills such learning important office procedures including time management, presenting a professional image, verbal communication skills and scheduling and confirming appointments and maintaining calendars may also be required.

This course covers beginning-level skills, and is ideal for the newer computer user who wants to become well versed in Word. Topics introduced include the Ribbon interface, working with text, printing, using proofreading tools, creating bulleted and numbered lists, tables, and more. This course is hosted in E-Lab.
An e-learning course featuring the Essential Telephone Etiquette module delivered in 5 daily lessons. This course module includes 5 daily lessons and focuses on the most important and fundamental telephone skills for every service professional. Each lesson is 15-25 minutes in length and presents many “how to” examples of each skill. The pace is fast enough to keep the learner engaged, and the content is practical, so at the end of each daily lesson new practices have been introduced that can be applied on the job immediately.
