Internet Child Safety

Before teaching your kids and students about online safety, it's a good idea to educate yourself. By understanding the risks a child faces online and what our teens and tweens are doing on the internet today, you will be able to better educate your kids, students and their parents on Internet Safety.

Understand the Risks

Start out by reading a recent eye opening national poll by the Polly Klaas Foundation on WHAT TEENS AND TWEENS ARE DOING ONLINE TODAY then take some time to learn how to recognize signs that a child might be at risk by reading FBI - A PARENTS GUIDE TO INTERNET SAFETY. Some other good resources that identify the risks are WHAT ARE THE RISKS from safekids.com and WHAT ARE THE RISKS FOR CHILDREN ONLINE? from getnetwise.com.

Study Some Real Case Studies:

Take the time to listen to some of these heart wrenching real life stories in video put together by NetSmartz workshops to educate teachers and parents about the kinds of risks children face on the Internet today.
